These LEDs have a PWM driver built into each 5050 package, which can then be connected serially together to allow control from a single pin from a MCU (or other intelligent controller) using a serial data stream to provide a 256-greyscale brightness control to each RGB die within each LED package. Applications include displays and signs from the complex to the very simple that use only a single LED. These digital LEDs reduce design costs by eliminating external LED drivers and simplifying designs and board layouts.
